This photo can be viewed two ways. First, it is massive wonder of human engineering and art, captured at wide angle to emphasize its grandeur. The gentle curve of the fence leading to the snow globe accents the towers arches nicely.
Alternately, the long vertical line terminating at the snow globe near the base makes it look like the tower laid and egg. I almost named it Eiffel's Egg, or Ovulating Eiffel :)Eiffel Tower From Trocadero Fountains
I Normally try to avoid tourists, but I think the enthralled perfectly central human silhouette and the ghosted phone photographer make the shot and define the moment.
ps.
When photographing the Eiffel tower with your cell phone or instant camera, don't use the flash, it makes photographers snicker ;)Eiffel Tower's Snowglobe
At the base of the Eiffel Tower for Christmas, a life sized snow globe full of real Christmas trees and alpine scenery was created. The arches and leg of the tower draw the eye inward to the globe. The rainbow colored lights were flashing 4 inch Eiffel tower souvenirs carried by street vendors under the tower; due to the long exposure the venders do not show, but their flashing minitowers create trails of light!
Eiffel Tower Garden and Stars
You don't want to know how late I stayed up to get this shot without the Christmas tourists...
Note the Christmas snow globe at the base of the tower. The mist creates the dramatic glow about the tower. In the full sized photo star trails from the earths rotation are visible on this long exposure.Lovre Lanterns
I have never seen crowds like Paris at Christmas; this plaza was standing room only during the day. I had to prowl the city like a vampire in the wee hours of the morning to get reasonable shots; unfortunately the plaza was gated off at night so traditional vantage points were impossible. I tried to make creative use of the lanterns; I kind of like it.
