The Path
Words can not describe the feeling of this 10 mile hike beneath 300 ft prehistoric redwood trees. I passed not another soul, and heard only the languid drip of slow rain cascading through the never ending branches. This particular trail emerges onto the rolling surf of the California coast.

These miniature ponies are raised by nuns on a monastery farm (yes truly nuns in a monastery) outside of Brenham Texas. On a particularly cold day with harsh blustery winds, this clever pony found an unusual way to keep his ears warm.

This cheetah was reclining languidly, oblivious to the spectators at the fence of its cage. Suddenly, it seemed to notice the crowd and cleared 50 ft in about 3 swift bounds and attacked the fence.

Life is hard for these young foxes, and many don't survive to maturity; the mother gets frighteningly emaciated while nursing. When I found the den, I occasionally threw out some dog kibble for them. I like to think this little guy was looking over his shoulder to say "thanks". I like how the dappled sunlight backlights the fur and frames the face on this one.
